Description:
Iris is a perennial flower grown either from a rhizome or a bulb. The flower has a distinctive petal arrangement of three upright petals (called standards) and three downward petals (called falls). German iris have a fuzzy beard on the center of each of the falls. Colors include white, yellow, peach, salmon, pink, burgundy, lavender, blue, and purple. Some varieties have variegated petals and some types feature one color on the standards and a contrasting color on the falls. The foliage is a long strap-like leaf.
