REQUEST FOR EPSILON SIGMA PHI AWARD NOMINATIONS
Epsilon Sigma Phi recognizes outstanding Kansas Extension Educators at all levels through the state-wide awards program. We hope you will take time to nominate one or more of your co-workers for an award. 2. Innovative, creative programming that includes development of effective new approaches.

3. A cooperative and helpful attitude toward fellow Extension professionals while evolving significant program accomplishments over a period of years. Recent programming is considered most heavily.

The Retirees Service Award is based on continuing contributions and outstanding service by a retired Extension professional. The Friend of Extension Award is based on involvement in and support of Extension by a layperson.

KARL PROGRAM OFFERS APPLICATION THROUGH CYBERSPACE
For the computer buff, application for the Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership (KARL) Program Class VI (2001-2003) offering will be easier. The required Applicant Profile Form can now be completed on-line. Agents and specialists are asked to nominate producers and agribusiness leaders. Forms must be submitted between now and March 15, 2001.

With so many farmers, agribusiness representatives and rural community leaders using more computers than typewriters today we felt it was time to bring our application process in line with technology. Individuals interested in applying via the internet will find the forms at http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/karl  but they may chose to print a draft for a pencil copy before completing and submitting them on-line.

Contact KARL, Inc. President and Program Director Jack Lindquist at karlinc@ksu.edu  with the name and address of your nominations.  --Jack Lindquist

SHARED LEAVE

ES-237 REPORT AND TWO DISKS DUE OCTOBER 1 TO THE STATE 4-H OFFICE
Thank you to all of the counties that have responded promptly with ES-237 Reports and two data disks. I appreciate this very much!

4-H Youth Enrollment reporting is critically important at the county, state and federal levels, both to 4-H Youth Development itself, and for funding. Instructions for completing your ES-237 Report are available from this hyperlink: http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/dp_4hyp/BRes-237.htm

Since I will be at the out of the office for the State Fair Thursday, September 7 through Monday, September 18, and the Blue Ribbon Youth Enrollment Conference Monday, September 25 through Friday, September 29 support for Blue Ribbon Youth ES-237 Report will be limited. MarTech will be able to help with support in my absence, but before calls are made, have the program open and have references in hand concerning the problem.

MarTech staff will be involved in the Annual Blue Ribbon Youth Conference, so it is possible that you will have to leave your number and have your call returned. Their number is 715-845-2794. --Shelia Roffler sroffler@oznet.ksu.edu
