On April 24, Ray Aslin, State Forester, and the Kansas Forest Service, will honor 104 Kansas communities that have earned Tree City USA recognition for 2000.

Collectively, these 104 Kansas communities spend 9.4 million dollars toward the care and management of our community forest resource in the state. Western Resources will be honored for earning the Tree Line USA Certification for a second year. Several special Awards, including recognition of the Kansas State Winner of the National Arbor  Day Poster Contest, and the State Forester's Award in Urban & Community Forestry, will also be presented.
