KNIGHT RIDDER SERIES
Knight Ridder news service will be providing to the media a 15 part series on End of Life issues this fall. This would be a good opportunity to work with local newspapers to encourage them to take advantage of this free series. We understand that there is to be a website so the newspapers can access more information. I will pass that on to you as soon as it becomes available. It could provide a good avenue for offering classes using the K-State Research and Extension materials, "End of Life: Kansans Deserve Excellent Care."  Another suggestion is to work with Kansas Health Ethics, 316-684-1991, for information on Advanced Directives. These articles will be available the first week of September. Your local paper can choose to run part or all of the series. If they should run all of it, the series will last until mid-December. --Jenell Smith JMSmith@oznet.ksu.edu

RECOGNITION OPPORTUNITY FOR HOW 4-H HELPS TEACH ABOUT AGRICULTURE
In the April, 2001, issue of Farm Journal, the Pitt County (N.C.) 4-H Club is featured. They are serving as spokespersons for agriculture.

Farm Journal magazine is looking for a letter describing how an individual or group teach nonfarmers about farming. Clippings, pictures and videos can all be included with the application. Entries are due December 15, 2001. Send to Farm Spokesperson of the Year, Farm Journal, Box 137, Champaign, IL 61824-0137. Thanks to Nancy Peterson for sharing this information. --Steve Fisher sfisher@oznet.ksu.edu
