DAVID DUNN FILLS WESTERN KANSAS TECHNICAL SUPPORT POSITION
David Dunn began work as the Western Kansas Microcomputer Systems Support Technician on September 17, 2001. He has completed 3 days of training and orientation with IET and will be visiting the Southwest and Northwest Area offices and several county extension offices in the next few days.

David lives in Hays with his wife, Joan, and their two children who attend Ft. Hays State University. He has worked most recently as a National Service Manager for Alpha Integrated Network Services. He has more than 13 years experience in the field service of networked computer systems.

David will work from an office in his home until other arrangements are made. We remind area and county staff to contact IET technical support for help desk issues. Should you need to contact David directly, his number is 785-620-5963. Leave a message if he is not there.

We hope you will all join us in welcoming David. --Roger Terry rterry@oznet.ksu.edu

BASIN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETINGS
The next round of Basin Advisory Committee meetings are scheduled for October 2 - 11, 2001. Kansas has a very unique and progressive water planning process. Citizens can be heard by decision makers through the local basin advisory committee meetings held in the 12 basins. Through the basin advisory meetings, citizens may influence water priorities, both quantity and quality, in Kansas. We encourage agents to help publicize the meeting times and locations in their county and, when possible, also attend the meetings.

Details about meeting locations and times may be viewed at the Kansas Water Office web site at: www.kwo.org/bac/schedule.html . The water for our future and for our children and grandchildren depends on our actions now. Act as though we care about water -- we all depend on it.

KAE4-HA "KATCH" PHRASE
"United We Stand, Divided We Fall"

With the tragic events of September 11 fresh on our minds, this statement is so true for our nation.

This is also true in our extension careers. Networking and Collaboration with fellow agents plays a vital part in our programs. KAE4-HA is a great way for agents to unite and network with one another. KAE4-HA is always welcoming new members. This organization is not limited to full time 4-H agents. KAE4-HA offers full, associate and first-time memberships. For more information about the organization visit with a member. --Jeremy Nelson jmnelson@oznet.ksu.edu
