UPDATE FOR NE AREA OFFICE
The Northeast. Area Office is located in the Grain Marketing Production and Research Center at 1515 College Avenue, Manhattan. Since this is a Federal facility, recent security measures have been taken to ensure the safety of that location and its workers.

Effective immediately, normal business hours for the Center and the NE Area Office are 8-4:30 p.m. There will be no access to the building after 4:30 pm. and absolutely no admittance from the back or side doors at any time. If for some reason, you need to come to the area office during the lunch hour, you will need to contact the area office prior to that time, so that special arrangements can be made to meet you at the front door. All visitors to the main facility will sign in at the reception desk at the front entry and be issued a visitor's pass. The front receptionist will contact the person being visited or one of the office professionals. Then an extension staff member will go to the front lobby and escort the visitor back to the appropriate location in the main facility.

On leaving the main facility, all visitors will sign out at the front reception desk. In most cases, facility visits will be limited to normal business hours. All visitors will be encouraged to park in the front parking lot whenever appropriate. The building will be closed on all federal holidays and, therefore, the Northeast Area Office will be closed on all federal holidays. --Jim Lindquist jlindqui@oznet.ksu.edu

WEBSITE ACCESSIBILITY: PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION
Do you know anyone who can only read large print, has trouble manipulating the mouse, has a slow modem connection, is colorblind, or uses older or hand-held equipment? Many more sites are inaccessible to people who face even minor physical or technological challenges.

By March 31, 2002, all sites funded by the State or Federal Governments must be fully ADA compliant. Potential penalties include loss of funding or legal action. In cooperation with the Kansas State University, K-State Research and Extension is committed to providing education and resources wherever possible to help web authors make our Web sites accessible to all Kansans.

We encourage all web authors to attend this presentation on how our organization will work to meet these important issues. There will be university representatives on hand to answer questions. Tuesday, October 30, 12-1:30 p.m., at the Union's Big 12 Room.

Information from this presentation will be available at: http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/edtech/TechSeries.htm .
