COMMISSION ON GOVERNMENTAL STANDARDS AND CONDUCT
Provost James R. Coffman asked that we share this information with all employees of K-State Research and Extension. The Board of Regents office has provided a recent reminder to all institutions that Board policy provides as follows:

"5. INTERACTION WITH LEGISLATURE AND OTHER STATE AGENCIES
e. Commission on Governmental Standards and Conduct Opinions

Any institution or employee seeking an opinion from the Commission on Governmental Standards and Conduct should do so by making a request through the office of the General Counsel of the Board. (10-17-91)"

Please be aware of the above Board of Regents policy and ensure your compliance with it. Any questions concerning this message may be directed to the University Attorney’s Office, 785-532-5730, or e-mail to:  attys@ksu.edu . Thanks for your cooperation. --Marc A. Johnson mjohnson@oznet.ksu.edu

NATIONAL LAND-GRANT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR FACULTY
The ESCOP/ACOP Leadership Development Program announces the recruitment for Class 12. This is an extremely effective faculty development program designed to enhance and shape the future of the land-grant university system by developing future leaders from among the current faculty.

The Class 12 announcement and application form are available on the internet at: http://www.escop.msstate.edu/committee/leadership/leadership.htm .

Phase I workshop for Class 12 will be June 22-27, 2002, at the University Place Executive Conference Center and Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. Phase II, the resident internship portion of the program, will be from July 2002 through the spring of 2003. Phase III will be conducted as a 2-day program in Washington, D.C., in the spring of 2003.

Submit your nominations to Kim Rothwell, Kansas State University, 113 Waters Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506. Support for faculty participation is in direct proportion to their appointment. Nominations should be submitted by February 8, 2002. Please contact Larry Erpelding, 532-6151, or lhe@ksu.edu ; or Forrest Chumley, 532-6147, or fchumley@ksu.edu , if you have any questions.
--Larry Erpelding

4HCCS PUBLICATIONS
The question proposed is, "Can a copy of a 4HCCS publication be made and distributed for educational purposes as long as the source (university and author) are clearly identified?"

Answer: Not without written permission from 4HCCS. 4HCCS relies on sales of materials to generate funds to develop new materials through grants back to multi-state design teams. --Jim Adams jadams@oznet.ksu.edu
