COMMUNITY BASED ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE
FORUMS TRAINING
Communities often need assistance in helping people work together to
make hard decisions about critical environmental issues. Frequently,
Extension agents are sought to help guide communities through public issue
discussions. The Kansas Environmental Leadership Program, (KELP), and the
Kansas Association of Conservation and Environmental Education, (KACEE),
are seeking persons interested in training and implementing
community-based environmental issue facilitation training. Persons
enrolled will receive materials and facilitation skill training from the
Environmental Issues Forums Program to apply with local communities.
The CBEIF training will take place March
1 and 2, at the Lied Center in Nebraska City. Persons interested in
community issue moderation training are encouraged to contact Dan Kahl, dkahl@oznet.ksu.edu
, for more information and an application. The deadline is February 15.

THE PRACTICAL GUIDE TO FACILITATION
A new acquisition in the K-State Research and Extension Resource Center is
a self-study primer on facilitation. The Practical Guide to
Facilitation by John Farrell and Richard Weaver is all about
collaboration. The book is a "how to" "what do you do
if" workbook - a very practical guide to more effective meetings and
more effective group efforts.
This book is an example of the many
resources that are available to be checked out at the K-State Research and
Extension Resource Center. If you are looking for resources to help build
your capacity to be a more effective educator or leader, there are a lot
of excellent books, tapes, and videos available to you. Contact Martha
Monihen at 532-6775 or stop by the Resource Center, Room 127 Umberger
Hall, to look over the selection of materials. --Marie Blythe mblythe@oznet.ksu.edu
