COUNTY AGRICULTURAL AGENT TRAINING SESSIONS THIS FALL
Michael Langemeier and Marty Albright will conduct four County Agricultural Agent training sessions dealing with Farm Record Keeping, Financial Analysis, and Micro-Computer Financial Plus (MCFP) this fall. The sessions will cover some record keeping fundamentals and then focus on financial statements and ratios that are used to evaluate and compare farm businesses. The functionality and modules within the Windows version of MCFP will also be demonstrated (e.g. entering checks and deposits, payroll, inventories, generating reports, etc.).

With the exception of the SW Area, computer labs have been reserved for these sessions. (We will ask that Garden City attendees bring their laptops and we will have a few extras available). Training will begin around 9:30 a.m. and end around 3 p.m.. Agents are welcome to attend whatever session best fits their schedule.

Additional details and registration procedures will be sent out later this summer. Please mark your calendars now for the date and location you might attend. The regional sessions are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, September 17, 2002 - Hays, FHSU Campus
Wednesday, September 18, 2002 - Garden City, SW Area Extension Office
Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - El Dorado, Butler County Community College
Tuesday, October 1, 2002 - Manhattan, Public Library

PUBLICATIONS/PRODUCTION SERVICES UPDATE
Penalty Mail Delay
The Umberger Hall Distribution Center is the only campus facility with the ability to process penalty mail. However, we are unable to add postage to the penalty meter head until we receive a letter of approval from the U.S. Postal Service. Although the letter should have been sent two months ago, and we have called numerous times to report the problem, we've been unable to obtain the needed approval. It did not become an issue until recently when a newsletter arrived for penalty bulk mail metering, and the meter lacked sufficient postage to process the mailing. We continue to press the Postal Service for approval and will inform clients when we are able to process penalty mail again. Thank you for your understanding.

Publications Available Electronically
The following publications have been deadfiled as printed only materials, but they will remain available electronically: L-869 "Guidelines for Use of Propeller-Type Irrigation Meters," and L-877 "Irrigation Water Measurement." --Nancy Peavler npeavler@oznet.ksu.edu
