RENOWNED RESEARCHER OF EXTENSION SPEAKING TO ANNUAL CONFERENCE
On Wednesday and Thursday, October 23-24, during our K-State Research and Extension Annual Conference, we will have the opportunity to hear world renowned researcher and author, Dr. Everett M. Rogers speak. Ev, as he calls himself, is the world's "guru" when it comes to the study of the diffusion of innovations.

If you have ever wondered where terms such as "change agents," "adoption curve," "innovators and early adopters," come from, you will have a chance to hear the person who either invented or has conducted research worldwide and written about them. Dr. Rogers' book "Diffusion of Innovations" is currently in its fourth edition.

His books discuss the generation of new knowledge or innovations through research. Change agencies, such as the Cooperative Extension Service, then diffuse those innovations out into society. His work is all about who we are and what we do.

Be sure and attend the sessions where Dr. Rogers is speaking and learn some fascinating insights into the history, the daily work, and the future of K-State Research and Extension. --Steven Graham sgraham@oznet.ksu.edu

BRING A BOOK FOR KIDS
The Kansas Association of Extension 4-H Agents invites all members of the K-State Research and Extension Family to bring a "new or almost new" children's book to Annual Conference. The National Meeting for 4-H Agents will be the following week in Norfolk, VA, and as a community service project, books are being collected across the nation for the Eastern Shore Project Head Start.

"Knowledge for Life" is our motto and you can play a role in providing a book for a young person! As Charlie "Tremendous" Jones said: "Read, read, read, read. A proper diet is good for your body, and the best books are good for your mind. Your life will be determined by the people you associate with and the books you read."

Books can be dropped off at the KAE4-HA business meeting on Monday afternoon at the Union during Annual Conference. . . prospective members are always welcome! THANKS in advance! --Phyllis Kriesel pkriesel@oznet.ksu.edu
