Phase in the new form by using it for all new hires and for your current, non-exempt employees who are scheduled to work overtime.

CATTLEMEN'S SEEDSTOCK SHOWCASE
The Cattlemen's Seedstock Showcase & Conference III will be held on Monday, February 10, 2003 at the Phillips County Fairgrounds, Phillipsburg, Kansas. This event will be an excellent opportunity for producers to expand their marketing efforts and make contacts with potential clientele from a large area of Kansas and Nebraska cow country. To achieve these marketing contacts, seedstock producers are offered a 12' x 12' display pen to showcase a sampling of their breeding cattle and provide exposure to progressive cattlemen.

Ag Agents, if you are in contact with seedstock producers who may be interested in this opportunity, please share this information with them and put February 10 on your calendar as well. This event will feature a conference intended to address current topics within the beef industry. Speakers for the event will be Pat Reese, Range Ecologist with the University of Nebraska, topic: the recently developed Grazing Response Index System; Dwayne Rice, Kansas Rangeland Management Specialist with NRCS, topic: Range Management During Drought. In addition, KSU Beef Specialist Sandy Johnson, and Craig Iwanski, DVM, will conduct a Chute Side Demo of Reproductive Tract Scoring (a tool to monitor heifer development). Sandy Johnson will also give an update on CIDRS and Cost Comparisons of A.I. and Natural Service Breeding Systems.

For more information about this event, contact Bob Broweleit at the Phillips County Extension Office, 785-543-6845 or bbrowele@oznet.ksu.edu . --Bob Broweleit

THE FARM ANALYST PROGRAM
For over 18 years, the department of Extension Agricultural Economics has provided a team of farm analysts to assist Kansas farm and ranch families with the tools to research their operations competitiveness and future direction. Working in the confidential setting of the producers home, analysts seek to empower families with the knowledge of where their operation has been and design a roadmap of where it can go.

Over 1500 families have utilized the analyst service. Many referrals come from county agents, KAMS (Kansas Ag Mediation Service), lenders, KSU Farm Management Associations, the Rural Family Helpline, and previously served farm families.

The Farm Analyst Program provides the information necessary to mediate and facilitate solutions that keep farm family and business goals intact and moving ahead in an ever changing economic environment. Program fees are nominal for the service provided. To learn more about the Farm Analyst Program, contact program coordinator Duane Hund, dhund@oznet.ksu.edu . --Duane Hund
