WE WANT TO HEAR FROM
YOU
We need to know what you think of the redesigned K-State Research and
Extension Web site. To preview the new site, go to http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/welcomeMain.asp
or go to http://www.oznet.ksu.edu
and click on the "Sneak Preview" toward the bottom of the middle
column. Although we are in the process of updating some of the About Us
and Directories pages, you can view many of the pages in the new site.
Please take a few minutes to look at the site and provide comments or
suggestions by clicking on "Feedback" in the left column or by
emailing Linda Sleichter, lsleicht@oznet.ksu.edu
.
This new site is targeted toward clients
and is topic-driven. Visitors to our site are seeking specific
information, and we want to provide them that information as quickly and
easily as possible. Then, as they are finding the information, we can make
them aware of the information and resources available through our
organization.
Another goal of this site is to show the
wide range of information we have available. This, of course, includes
newsletters, publications, videos, radio interviews, columns, and other
materials you have produced. If you are working on something timely that
would apply to a large state audience, or you just think its so good that
you want it posted statewide, then contact Linda Sleichter,
lsleicht@oznet.ksu.edu; 785-532-5269, and she'll work with you to get it
featured on the homepage.
We've built this site based on comments and
suggestions from many people in our organization, and we will continue to
adapt the site to help you best provide information to your clientele.
Thanks in advance for your feedback. We would appreciate comments prior to
March 1, as we plan on implementing this new design as the K-State
Research and Extension Web site on March 1, 2003. --Kristina Boone kboone@oznet.ksu.edu

YOUTH GROUPS CAN APPLY FOR $104 FARM
SAFETY GRANT
Farm Safety 4 Just Kids and Successful Farming magazine are
partnering to offer ten, $104 grants for youth groups to conduct
community service farm safety education projects. The project may be
planned and conducted with assistance from adult leaders or parent
volunteers, but youth are encouraged to apply for the grant and supply
the elbow grease. The grants are part of FS4JK's campaign "Project
104! No More!" This farm safety awareness effort is designed
to bring attention to the fact that 104 young people die on farms each
year.
Ideas for projects include: Farm safety
walkabouts, safety day camp, school safety fair, or distributing SMV
emblems or other safety stickers to area farmers. Deadline is March 15.
Selections will be made by April 15 with funds distributed by May 1.
Groups will have the summer to complete the project and will be asked to
submit a one-page follow-up report with photos to Farm Safety 4 Just
Kids by September 30, 2003.
To apply for a $104 grant, send a
one-page letter describing your youth group and detailing its farm
safety project. Include the need for the project and an estimated
budget. Send the letter to: Project 104! No More! Grant, Farm Safety 4
Just Kids, P.O. Box 458, Earlham, IA 50072, phone: 800-423-5437, email: fs4jk@netins.net
