PORK QUALITY ASSURANCE CERTIFICATION FOR YOUTH
Target Audience: Agents, Ag Teachers and Veterinarians.

Pork Quality Assurance Certification will be required of all youth exhibiting swine at the Kansas State Fair and the Kansas Jr. Livestock Show for 2004. PQA Certification is required at nomination deadline for swine, which is June 15 of show year.

In an effort to help our youth meet these new requirements, Julie Voge is in the process of working with K-State On-line to provide the 'educator training' via the internet. Those individuals who have attended, or will attend in the near future, a training session conducted by Julie, will be state approved Youth PQA educators for three years before being required to attend a session of this nature or take the session 'on-line' again.

Look for more information about the 'on-line' option in the next two weeks.  If you have questions, please call or e-mail Julie at 785-532-1264, jvoge@oznet.ksu.edu , or feel free to call the Pork Board directly at 1-800-456-pork, or visit the web site at http://pqa.porkboard.org . --Daryl Buchholz dbuchhol@oznet.ksu.edu
