FALL (MICRO) ANNUAL CONFERENCE - MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Denise G. Dias, ddias@oznet.ksu.edu , (Kansas Extension Agent Association president), and several colleagues are taking the lead in developing plans for a fall (micro) annual conference to take place this October 19-20, 2004, (Tuesday/Wednesday), in Great Bend at the Holidome. It will involve one overnight stay and will provide the opportunity for the new Director and the Associate Director for Extension and Applied Research to share some thoughts and interact with us. In addition, Agent and other Professional Associations would have the opportunity to hold their annual meetings, change officers, and conduct other necessary business.

George Ham, Forrest Chumley, and I are very supportive of the idea as a means of maintaining and expanding communication given the changes taking place rather than waiting until October, 2005 for our next full-scale KSRE conference. This micro conference event will not take the place of listening sessions that will likely occur around the state nor will it involve all the components of a regular KSRE annual conference, but will provide a common forum for our new leadership to interact with a large percentage of our organization in a single meeting. More details will be released as they are developed. --Randy Higgins rhiggins@oznet.ksu.edu

USE OF MAILING LISTS: A REMINDER FROM USDA - CSREES
Q— Can a Cooperative Extension Service release mailing lists to Federal, State, or private agencies?

A— Mailing lists comprise systems of records established to assist in carrying out various programs of a Cooperative Extension Service. These mailing lists are for the sole use of the Cooperative Extension Service and should not be furnished directly or indirectly to any person, firm, association, or Federal government agency unless authorized by the individual Cooperative Extension Service director/administrator. State freedom of information or privacy regulations and institutional policies may apply to the release of these records. As such, legal consultation with the State Attorney’s office and institutional counsel is recommended concerning the proper handling of access requests. --Randy Higgins rhiggins@oznet.ksu.edu
