WORD FROM THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - EXTENSION AND APPLIED RESEARCH
On Wednesday, December 1, the Extension Strategic Planning Task force will be completing its work for K-State Research & Extension. The task force will have given three days of focused thinking, discussions, and planning in the interest of assuring the future of a relevant, sustainable, high quality Extension Service in Kansas. A draft set of recommendations, http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/strategic_planning/proposals.htm , was created for task force review and further refinement. The task force will devote much of the day to identifying how best to achieve those recommendations. I hope you will take a moment to thank any of the task force members you know for the hard work they have given to this important task.

I've been asked what happens after the task force completes its work. It is my plan that the strategic plan recommendations will get widespread dissemination and further opportunities for input on how best to accomplish those recommendations as a system. The draft plan will be presented to our local leadership at upcoming Extension Partnership Meetings in January by members of the task force. We will be asking that conversations among our Executive Governing Boards, Program Development Committees, and stakeholders take place. Faculty will be asked for feedback on the recommendations and means for implementation. The K-State Research & Extension administrative team will be utilizing these recommendations in years to come to shape the directions and opportunities for continuous improvement of the system. Opportunities remain for feedback and suggestions on how best to achieve the recommendations across the system over the next few months.  --Daryl Buchholz dbuchhol@oznet.ksu.edu

It will take only about five minutes to complete four questions. Your response to the survey must be received by December 10 in order to be used as input to the process.
