ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - EXTENSION AND APPLIED RESEARCH I'd encourage you to take a look at this article, print it off, read it several times, and think about the true Extension hedgehog. The survey will be available until July 16. The planning committee looks forward to your responses to the survey. --Daryl Buchholz dbuchhol@ksu.edu COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT OPPORTUNITY Convening a community conversation, assessing the community situation, prioritizing the projects to reach community goals - these are all things that Extension Community and Economic Development Agents do to help the community plan for their future - and here is a resource for those who have big plans for their community. The Case Foundation is launching a pilot grant program that will help communities reach their goals.
The “Make It Your Own” Awards, a new initiative from the Case
Foundation, is about giving grants, tools, and recognition to people
who are coming together to discuss what matters, form solutions, and
take action. Twenty semi-finalists will each receive $10,000 grants to
start bringing their ideas to life. Four final grant recipients will
each be awarded an additional $25,000 grant. To see the full grant
announcement and explanation, go to

. The deadline is August 8, 2007.

MARILYN
TOELLNER, SEDGWICK COUNTY, RETIRING Following that, she taught fifth grade in Fontana, California for four years. In 1980 she began work in Wyoming and worked for Big Horn County as a 4-H, Family and Consumer Sciences and Community Development Agent. In 1984 Marilyn became an Agent in Family and Consumer Sciences and County Extension Director for Carbon County until 1990. Marilyn spent a short amount of time in Harper County, Kansas as a Family and Consumer Sciences Agent before joining the staff at the Sedgwick County Extension Office in Wichita, Kansas. For the past sixteen years, our office has been very privileged to have Marilyn working in our Family and Consumer Science Department as a Family Life and Family Resource Management Agent. She has touched and helped improve many people's lives throughout her time with us. We are like one big family here at the Sedgwick County Extension Office, and although we are happy for her; we're also sad to see her go. If you would like to send a card or letter to Marilyn Toellner, feel free to send them to the following address: Sedgwick County Extension Office
KSU FOUNDATION UPDATE: HAS CONGRESS
CHANGED YOUR WILL? You may be surprised to learn that Congress might have recently "changed" your will and other estate plans. Taw law changes are just one of the many reasons it is important to regularly update plans. Births, deaths and changes in marital status can also call for a careful review. Now may be an ideal time to revisit plans. A peace of mind can occur from taking control of future ways that could benefit family and mankind. To learn more how charitable giving can be included in estate planning, contact the KSU Foundation Gift Planning department at 1-800-432-1578. --Lori Rogge lorir@found.ksu.edu
