ETHANOL USE IN SMALL NON ROAD ENGINES WEBINAR
Ethanol gasoline blends of 10% are ubiquitous. Yet questions and rumors abound about how ethanol blends affect small engines. This presentation will discuss how ethanol blends are different than 100% gasoline and how these changes impact small engines. In particular, this presentation will cover the combustion process and how ethanol blends function in small engines. If you have ever wondered about how ethanol impacts your small engines, this presentation is for you.
The webinar, “Ethanol use in Small Non Road Engines,” will be Friday, March 28, at 10 a.m. CDT. It will be presented by Edwin Brokesh, PE.

SHUTTERBUGS IN THE GARDEN AT BOTANICA GARDENS, WICHITA
Shutterbugs in the Garden at Botanica Gardens, Wichita will be April 12, 2014. No preregistration required. Just show up. Cost is the admission to Botanica, (Adults $7, Youth 3-12 $5). In the event of rain or snow, workshops will be held indoors. Shutterbugs is for families so members bring your parents and everyone come learn. Workshops will feature a short information presentation followed by practice activities.
9:00 - 9:15 a.m. Registration 9:15 - Orientation and Directions 9:30 - First Session Starts
Sessions Repeated every 30 minutes with the last session starting at 12:00. Sessions being offered each session: Camera Questions, Props and costumes, Water drops, bubbles and liquids, Portraits and Posing, Lighting, Getting ready for the Fair.

TOOLKIT FOR 100TH CELEBRATION OF SMITH-LEVER ACT
In 2014, we celebrate the 100th
anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, which
established the Cooperative Extension Service, a
state-by-state national network of educators who extend university-based
research and knowledge to the people.

messaging) of useful resources to extension staff as we celebrate our milestone

In addition to

DIVERSITY PROGRAMS OFFICE UPDATE
Swing into spring!
The College of Agriculture’s Diversity Programs Office (DPO)would like to welcome back all students from Spring break. We have experienced a very eventful year so far and we encourage everyone to stop by 139 Waters to inquire about events. As students and faculty get back into the swing of school the DPO would like to share some of the events that will and have taken place as the month of March comes to an end:
• Monday, March 24, Brenee King, the program coordinator in the provost’s office, will present Boyer-Switzer Lecture, Hale Library, Hemisphere Room.
• Monday, March 24-Friday 28, Linda Tucker, the Regional Peace Corps Recruiter, will be visiting Kansas State University. During her visit, she will have an informational table in the Union, as well as, speaking about the Peace Corps to MANRRS and other Multicultural Student Organizations.
• The MANRRS National Career Fair & Training Conference will be held in Birmingham, AL. We will have a 13 member delegation attending the 2014 MANRRS National Conference, along with our advisors, Dr. Zelia Wiley and Curtis Pitts and our Jr. MANRRS Advisor, Curtis Pitts. • Ag Fest Week will be held March 24-28 where there will be events throughout the week in which to participate. • Please support National Agriculture Week is March 23-29 and its activities.
The Diversity Programs Office (DPO) would also like to congratulate Carlos Flores for winning one of the positions in Student Senate in the College of Agriculture during the 2014 SGA General Elections. Carlos is a freshman in Food Science & Industry, a 2013 MAPS Scholar and MANRRS member.
