Shout Out: A Two for One Deal

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

We are combining two Shout Outs into one this week, as we received two Shout Out nominations regarding the topic of Radon.

First, Tara Markley would like to provide a Shout Out to her K-State Research and Extension Johnson County colleagues Denise Dias, Tracy Hemsath, Christin Bartels, and Adele Wilcoxen. January was Radon Awareness month, and, by January 18, the work of this team led to over 800 radon test kits being distributed from the Johnson County office. Great job, Denise, Tracy, Christin, and Adele!

On a related radon note, Becky Reid of K-State Research and Extension Cowley County suggested a Shout Out for fellow Extension professionals Bruce Snead and Brian Hanson. It seems that a newspaper that serves Cowley County had written an article with incorrect and misleading information in it. Bruce wrote a factual response and submitted it to the newspaper, even though it was after 5:00 p.m. on a Friday of a three day weekend. She applauds both Bruce and Brian for the work they do to increase the radon awareness among the people we serve!

Thanks to all these great Extension professionals for the work they did and do to make the people we serve more aware about radon!

We only have one Shout Out left in our cue. We know there are so many deserving of a Shout Out, but the prestigious Shout Out cannot be bestowed unless they are nominated by a fellow Extension professional. If you know of a colleague or colleagues that deserve a Shout Out, please send their name and the reason for the Shout Out to ghadley@ksu.edu.
