KDHE Recognizes Agents for Community-Level Health Projects

Congratulations to Denise Dias, Monica Walker and Teresa Hatfield for having their community-level (PSE) health projects highlighted as “Success Stories” for the state’s Healthy Kansas 2030 plan.  The stories, which were reported in PEARS, are the results of the agents’ local Grand Challenge for Health (GCfH) projects, and they represent Extension’s role in supporting healthier Kansas communities. Using PEARS reports linked to the PSE action plan, Stephanie Gutierrez, Extension Health Program Coordinator, worked with each agent to craft and submit the stories. KDHE officials then chose to publish these examples in order to inspire other communities to undertake similar projects that support state health priorities.  Learn more at the State Health Assessment & Improvement Plan website.

Contact Stephanie Gutierrez or Elaine Johannes about KSRE’s Grand Challenge for Health (GCfH) initiative, and to join the next Systems Approaches to Healthy Communities (SAHC) 8wk online coached-class held from January 21-March 10, 2025. SAHC is an asynchronous, professional development class comprised of 5 self-paced modules enriched with real-time coaching with KSRE specialists. After completion of SAHC, agents can apply for a $10,000 cooperative agreement to implement community-level (PSE) projects that address health disparities and that contribute to improved community health.
