Taking Stock during the Fourth of July

Submitted by Rick Peterson

As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, I would encourage you to take stock of you and your family’s wellbeing and that of the communities you serve.

Taking stock means to pause and carefully review or assess a situation, event, or resources, often before making a decision or moving forward. It's a process of reflection, evaluating what has happened, identifying successes and challenges, and considering what actions to take next.

Our founding fathers surely took stock of their situation before crafting their vision for a free and independent nation and the obstacles and opportunities that lie ahead of them and the country.

In your own life, take some time to renew and recharge yourself, focus on rejuvenating your mind, body and spirit. Take stock of the challenges and opportunities you and your communities face. Look for ways to be a change agent within your community and help facilitate positive changes.

It's our Independence Day, and we’re celebrating our country’s freedom. Let’s also take a moment to celebrate the land grant mission and serving others.

Happy Fourth of July!
