Diversity Programs Office Update

The DPO would like to share some information about our upcoming events:

• The University held its recognition of Dr. Gordon’s contribution to K-State on Wednesday, December 2nd, at 3:30-5 p.m. at the Alumni Center in the Tadtman Board Room. The Diversity Programs Office wishes her well in her future endeavors!
• MANRRS had the last meeting of the year on December 2nd in Room 137. It announced the Finals Week Study Hall, which will be December 7 - 11, from 6 - 10 p.m. in Room 106. All are welcome!
• On Saturday, December 6, at 7 p.m., the men of Alpha Phi Alpha held their 17th Annual Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant in Forum Hall in the K-State Student Union. Jerusha Matthews, Wildlife Conservation Biology, won first place overall! Shelbi Hill, Biology, won Miss Talent! We are very proud of all of the young ladies who participated!
• The DPO hosted College for a Day on Saturday, December 6. Students from Topeka, Salina, and Garden City attended a day full of panels and breakout sessions to explore the world of Agriculture at Kansas State. University
• The DPO would like to recognize Dr. Charlotte Olsen and Dr. Zelia Wiley for presenting “Success Story: KSRE Diversity Training Initiative for New and Seasoned Agents,” at the 73rd Annual Professional Agriculture Worker Conference at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama.
• The DPO invites you to attend open forums presented by each finalist for the Interim Associate Provost for Diversity. Please review each finalist’s application materials at http://www.k-state.edu/provost/about/searches/ prior to attending their respective forums. The schedule of candidate open forums is as follows:

- Mirta Chavez, 4-5 p.m. Monday, December 7, in the Little Theatre in the K-State Student Union
- Dawne Martin, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, in the Little Theatre in the K-State Student Union
- Doris Wright Carroll, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 10, in the Big 12 Room in the K-State Student Union
- Zelia Wiley, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, December 10, in the Little Theatre in the K-State Student Union

• MLK Observance Week is January 25-29, 2016. The Student Reception is on Monday, January 25, at 5:30 p.m. On Friday, January 29, The Black Faculty and Staff Alliance and Alianza will host the Brown Bag Luncheon.
