Greetings from Extension Operations

Jennifer Wilson

I appreciate that many of you have asked how things are going in my new position. After 23 years in a county office, there are definitely a lot of new things to learn, but I am enjoying the challenge and feel as though I’m starting to get the hang of things.

During my first few months on the job my goal has been to familiarize myself with processes and procedures and look at how we can enhance those going forward. I value constant improvement in anything I do, and as such would welcome any comments or suggestions you might have.

I do want to draw your attention to a couple of new video resources about new agent onboarding that have recently been finished. New Agent Onboarding: A Guide for Board Members and New Agent Onboarding: A Guide for Mentors and Coworkers were created to help board members, co-workers and mentors gain a better understanding of what happens during the new staff orientation sessions and how they can best assist new agents in adjusting to their new job. Take a few minutes to view them so you’ll be in the know.

In the near future, you can expect to hear more about civil rights compliance. An advisory team of Dr. J.D. McNutt, Dr. Paula Peters, Wade Weber, Carl Garten, Kara Mayer and Mirna Bonilla has been convened to make sure our system is doing our best to reach all audiences and is prepared for our next civil rights compliance review. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.

Thanks to each of you for the important role you play for K-State Research and Extension. Please reach out if I can be of service to you.
