Nominate Your Colleagues for KSRE Awards
Who doesn’t like a little recognition? Even our most humble of colleagues brightens when recognized for a job well done. While recognition may seem a little one sided, both the employee and the organization benefit from employee recognition. It’s understandable how employees benefit—they’re happier, more engaged in their jobs, and when nominated by their peers, enjoy more positive relationships with their co-workers. The Society for Human Resource Management points out that organizations also benefit from employee recognition by improving retention rates and positively affecting organizational culture, values and the humanity of the workplace.
Guess who else benefits from employee recognition--the Giver! According to Work Human Research Institute, those who give recognition are more likely to love their job, recommend the organization to a friend, be highly engaged, and have a positive work experience. Our annual KSRE awards are a great opportunity for everyone to benefit from employee recognition. To learn more about how to nominate your colleagues for recognition, please visit http://www.ksre.k-state.edu/employee_resources/nominations_for_awards/. There are ten award categories. I know that we each can think of at least one person or group for each award. Award nominations are due Wednesday, August 7.
Remember that in the spirit of innovation, this year’s conference will look and feel a little different. One of these differences will be how and when our award winners are recognized. Rather than having the traditional awards banquet on Thursday, recognition will occur throughout the conference. Some awards will be presented during the Tuesday evening event at Liquid Art Winery. Others will be presented during general sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. No matter when the recognition takes place, it is still an important part of our annual conference. The success of which relies on YOU to nominate your colleagues for awards!
