College of Agriculture Diversity Programs Office Update
Submitted by College of Agriculture Diversity Programs Office
Greetings everyone! We hope all is going well in your spring semester. The Diversity Programs Office (DPO) has been busy and is looking forward to sharing some exciting upcoming events!
Our “Growing Our Mindset Diversity Forum Part VI” is coming up on March 3. The forum will be held in the Town Hall of the Leadership Studies building at 4:30 p.m. The “Growing Our Mindset Forum” is designed to engage students and faculty in an open dialogue regarding diversity and inclusion in the academic, professional, and everyday settings. Please join us as Demetha Sanders, Cargill’s Global Head of Inclusion and Talent Management, presents on the importance of diversity in the workplace. Thank you to Cargill for sponsoring this event.
Other events include MANRRS Week, March 16-20, where we will have a week full of events ranging from community service, fundraisers, and voters’ awareness drives. On April 1-4, we will be taking a 12 student delegation to participate in the 2020 MANRRS National Conference in Minneapolis, MN. This event will give students the opportunity to display the value of their education in a professional environment. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in workshops designed to help them as they move forward with their collegiate or professional careers. We hope to make this a great success.
Congratulations to Mindy McBee for being selected as the 2020 Distinguished Young Alumni (DYA). Mindy was a 2012 Agribusiness graduate of the K-State College of Agriculture. Currently she is the U.S. Pricing and Formulation Manager at Cargill, where she also serves on the K-State Steering Committee within Cargill. On behalf of the DPO and K-State MANRRS Chapter, we are extremely proud of Mindy.
Please be reminded to take the campus climate survey which was distributed by Campus Climate Surveys, LLC on Monday (02/24/2020). Be sure to check your clutter/junk mailboxes if you cannot find the survey in your inbox. It is critical that everyone participates in this survey so we can gauge the current climate on the K-State Campus. The deadline to complete this survey is Tuesday (03/03/2020). Your voice matters!
Please continue to look for more diversity news and events as we continue the 2020 spring semester. We appreciate all your support. For more information about upcoming events please contact Dr. Zelia Wiley, Assistant Dean and Director of Diversity Programs, at 785-532-5793 or zwiley@ksu.edu.
