Value-Added Foods

Value-added foods are simply raw food items that have been prepared, cooked, or processed in some way to "add value" to the end user - even if that is just you in your home kitchen! If you start raising your own garden, chickens for eggs, or even a few animals, at some point you will have an abundance that you want to be able to save for use later in the year. Even if you don't raise your own food, but purchase a larger amount from a local farmer, you may want to turn those products into something that has a longer shelf-life for storage.
