Shout Out: Sharon Ashworth

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

This week the Shout Out is from Travis Carmichael, Lyon County Horticulture Agent and Pam Paulsen, Reno County Horticulture Agent; and is sent for Sharon Ashworth, Douglas County Horticulture and Natural Resources Agent. Travis and Pam write:

"We would like to offer a shout out for Sharon Ashworth, Horticulture and Natural Resources Agent in Douglas County. After the spring KACAA meetings in Douglas County, Travis and I thought it would be nice for our Extension Master Gardener volunteers to have the opportunity to see some of the places we toured. We visited with Sharon about bringing our two groups to Douglas County and she didn't hesitate to make it happen. Thanks to Sharon, our groups visited some historically significant Civil War sites, were treated to a reenactment of Bleeding Kansas and toured a restored prairie area and sugar maple grove. She also gave us a tour of some of the Douglas County Master Gardener demonstration areas and made arrangements for a great lunch as well.

Our Master Gardener volunteers so enjoyed meeting volunteers from other counties and learning about their projects. They came home with new ideas to implement, new friendships and plans for more activities with each other in the future. We all appreciate Sharon and the time and effort she took to make all the preparations and for spending the day with us."

Sharon -- thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.
