KSRE Moves to Four Regional Directors

Submitted by Chris Onstad

Map of KSRE Administrative Regions

Over the last several years, KSRE has operated with three regional directors due to budget constraints. We operated with four area directors and another metro-unit director prior to downsizing. People within our system have recognized the need for greater support at the regional director level and identified it as a top priority. We are pleased to initiate the process to hire a fourth regional director.

Our current Central Regional Director, Aliesa Good, will be stepping away from her regional director duties August 1, 2025. Thus, we will be filling two regional director positions at the same time. This will lead to changes in the regional administration with the local extension units. While honoring the two most recent regional director hires, Carla Nemecek and Amy Sollock will continue as regional directors in the East and West Regions, respectively. These regions will continue to represent many of the same local extension units with some modifications. What is currently known as the central region (plus several units from the Eastern and Western region) will be divided into a North and a South Region.

A search committee(s) reflecting employees from the North and South Regions will be assembled soon under the co-chairs of Carla Nemecek and Amy Sollock. The announcement of the positions will be advertised nationally, but we encourage qualified internal applicants as well. These positions will be remote but need to routinely be present for interactions with local unit employees and governing bodies.

Any questions can be addressed to regional directors or myself.
