Shout Out: Nancy Daniels and Cindy Evans
This week the Shout Out is from Frances Graves, KARL Leadership Program Manager, KSE Community Vitality Specialist, and Deborah Kohl, KSE Community Vitality Specialist and Program Leader Coordinator; and is sent for Nancy Daniels, Community Vitality Specialist, and Cindy Evans, retired Shawnee County Extension Director. Frances and Deborah write:
"Shout out to Community Vitality Specialist Nancy Daniels and retired Shawnee County Extension Director Cindy Evans for their successful coordination and leadership of the first annual Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities Conference in rural Kingman, Kan. (pop. 2,080). This event brought together excellent local and national speakers with 125+ inspired entrepreneurs and supporting agencies/partners from across Kansas. The ripple effects from the conference are already being seen as one business building in downtown Kingman was purchased and the retailers in the community saw a boost from the attendees being in town. Thanks also to CV Specialist Jan Steen for helping to create the event web site and K-State Executive Vice President Marshall Stewart for serving as the closing keynote. Among the many useful topics covered was the value of a collaborative and team nature to support both small businesses and rural communities, "it takes many hands and talents to get things done well and start momentum that carries into our communities." We look forward to more details about next year's event in Courtland, KS, Nancy and Cindy! You've laid the foundation for impact and change for years to come."
Nancy and Cindy -- thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Extension.
