Funding Available for Community Wildfire Smoke Preparedness
The 2026 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Wildfire Smoke Preparedness in Community Buildings grant program is now open for applications through April 15. This program provides grants to states, federally recognized Tribes, public pre-schools, local educational agencies, and non-profit organizations for the assessment, prevention, control, and/or abatement of wildfire smoke hazards in community buildings and related activities. The total funding available for awards is $13,580,000. EPA anticipates awarding approximately 8-11 grants, ranging from $350,000 to $2,500,000. Grant recipients will have up to three years to complete their projects. EPA will host an information session webinar for potential applicants on February 25 from 1-2 p.m. ET. During the webinar, EPA will provide an overview of the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) and the application process.
