Horticulture PFT Invites You to GMO Training

Please join us for the Horticulture Program Focus Team's December Training event focused on GMOs. The workshop features world-class researchers and educators based right here at K-State as well as the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. An abbreviated agenda follows. Seats are limited (the room in the IGP Institute holds 63) so please REGISTER as soon as possible. Cost of $15 includes a soup, baked potato and salad bar lunch catered by RC McGraws.

Wednesday, December 16
10 a.m. – Nuts and Bolts of GMOs: Harold Trick, KSU Plant Pathology

12 p.m. – Lunch [RC McGraw’s: soup, salad and potato bar. Registration $15.]

1:00-1:30 p.m. – Update on GMO Labeling and Regulation: Harold Trick

1:30-3 p.m. – Top Grower and Consumer Concerns about GMO Crops: Cary Rivard, KSU Horticulture; Londa Nwadike (KSU and U of Missouri, Food Safety); Mithila Jugulum, KSU Agronomy (weed science); Sean Fox, KSU Agricultural Economics

3-3:30 p.m. – Break

3:30 p.m. – Group Discussion: Follow up discussion with the panel, further discussions of concerns, etc.

4:30 p.m. – Current KSRE Research Panel: Anna Whitfield (KSU Plant Pathology); Sunghun Park (KSU HFRR); John Fellers (USDA-ARS)

5:30 pm – Dismiss 6:30 to 8:30 pm – Dinner at the Tallgrass Brewery Tap House, hosted by the Hort. PFT

Thursday, December 17
