Register: Know the 10 Signs of Alzheimer's Disease

Submitted by Erin Yelland

I am excited to announce several training opportunities for the Know the 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease program. This 1-hour program, which was developed by the Alzheimer’s Association, highlights:

• Risk factors for Alzheimer’s
• The 10 signs of Alzheimer’s
• The difference between typical age-related cognitive decline and disease
• What to do if you notice any/all of the 10 signs in yourself or a loved one
• The (current) process of a getting a diagnosis
• The benefits of early detection

All of the trainings will be held from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

• January 19 in Colby at the 4-H building (1100 West Cedar)
• January 20 in Garden City at the SW Area Office (Note: This will also serve as the SW area FCS agent update!! The time may be slightly adjusted.)
• January 21 in Manhattan at the Wheat Innovation Center (1990 Kimball)
• January 26 in Parsons at the SE Area Office

The cost of registration will be $25 (including lunch, materials, and promotional magnets). You can also receive a 3-panel EFNEP-style poster for an additional $50 (posters at this substantially reduced cost are NOW LIMITED and will be sold on a first-registered, first-served basis).

This is truly an exciting opportunity for KSRE – One third of our seniors currently die with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia, and those numbers are only expected to rise in coming years. In conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association chapters in Kansas, KSRE will be on the leading edge of educating Kansans about the disease, the benefits of early detection, and more. I sincerely hope you’ll register for this training event – after all, everyone with a brain is at risk for Alzheimer’s.

Register by December 11th here: https://kstate.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6o2wXD4ASte4wu1.
