To tag on to Daryl Buchholz conversation a few weeks ago concerning Engaging in Community Vitality Programming - Let's Talk Kansas PRIDE.

Kansas PRIDE has been a part of K-State Research and Extension since 1970 and is a partnership between the KSRE, The Kansas Department of Commerce and Kansas PRIDE, Inc. (a non profit board of directors that acts as a steering committee for programming). You may never have heard of Kansas PRIDE, but PRIDE has served over 400 communities in 104 counties in Kansas in its 45 years of existence. (And I offer a prize to the first person who can name the one county that has never had a local PRIDE organization - jmenon@ksu.edu).

Through the Kansas PRIDE program, local communities identify what they would like to preserve, create, or improve. Then, working with the resources of K-State Research & Extension and the Kansas Department of Commerce, community volunteers pull together to create their ideal community future.

The program provides structure, organization, process and assists community volunteers in assessing community needs and developing a plan of action to address the unique needs of their community.

Come to our Community Vitality Update and invite your Community Development PDC Members to join in and learn more about Kansas PRIDE, and how this program and other community vitality programming can help enhance your Community Development PDC.
