Thanks for Stepping Up
Submitted by The Extension Administration Team
Extension professionals and volunteers are public servants concerned about the greater good. It is not surprising when an Extension professional or volunteer goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide even more assistance in times of an emergency. With that being said, the amount of effort put in by our professionals and volunteers in response to our recent wildfires has been nothing short of amazing.
A phrase often attributed to author Max Lucado describes how our colleagues worked, alongside others, to respond to the wildfires. “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.” Fighting this wildfire and its aftermath has been and will be a team challenge. Some directly fight the wildfires. Others provide food and coordinate rest stations for the firefighters. Others help with communication efforts. Some aid displaced residents find food, water and shelter. Others are working diligently to help provide feed, water and shelter for displaced livestock. At the very least, we expressed our concerns and hopes for all those affected.
At the time of this writing, the wildfire is not completely over, and its aftermath will be ongoing. We just want to express our gratitude to all of our Extension colleagues and volunteers who stepped up to fight the wildfires and who will step up to fight its aftermath. Thank you.
