Tasty Frozen Treats

Submitted by Denise Sullivan

Does summer time have you craving something creamy and cold? If you head out to the local ice cream shop with the kids, consider choosing a small portion of low-fat or fat-free frozen yogurt. At about 100 calories per half-cup serving, frozen yogurt is lower in calories and saturated fat than most ice creams.

You can make your own tasty treats by coating blueberries with plain or vanilla Greek yogurt and freezing on a sheet pan. Another favorite is spreading peanut butter between two banana slices and freezing, then dipping in melted chocolate chips and freezing again. With either treat, transfer to storage container or individual bags for a grab and go snack.
