Diversity Programs Office Update
The Diversity Programs Office would like to share some information about our events for the beginning of the school year:
• The K-State Chapter of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS) held their first general body meeting on Wednesday, September 7. The meeting opened with Topanga McBride representing Agriculture Future of America (AFA) and speaking about the AFA Leadership Conference in Kansas City, MO. Applications for the event were due Friday night. President Adriana Meneses followed that by delivering a PowerPoint presentation that spoke about the contributions that MANRRS makes to students and the College of Agriculture. Mary Ellen Barkley, Assistant Director for the Career Center, finished the meeting by speaking about how the students could prepare their resumes for the upcoming All-University Career Fair. She then met with those students who brought their resumes and offered a critique.
• MANRRS had a booth yesterday in the union for the Celebration of Diversity and College Success event. The students from MANRRS spoke to high school students, groups and their parents who were visiting K-State's campus and learning about college life.
• We encourage all students to attend the Cargill Job & Internship Information Session today at 5:30 p.m. in 123 Weber Hall. Representatives from Cargill will be present to discuss available career and internship opportunities. Food and drinks will be provided following a presentation by Cargill representatives.
