Emergency Shower Testing

Submitted by Sandra Hoffman

The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.151(c) states, “Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use.” Meeting this requirement, the laboratories within the College of Agriculture provide emergency showers to minimize bodily damage in the event of a chemical exposure. Routine inspections and maintenance must be conducted to ensure the equipment will properly function in an emergency. The emergency showers located in the buildings below will be tested during the month of July.
