OSHA indicates that suffocation from engulfment is a leading cause of death in grain bins. OSHA’s “Stand-up for Engulfment Prevention” campaign is a way to reach out to employers and workers to get them involved in improving worker protection, reducing injuries, and preventing fatalities from engulfment. A special FREE webinar is scheduled for April 10, at 2 p.m. CDT, registration link: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/8869804670927605505. This is an excellent learning opportunity for personnel regarding bin dangers and shared best practices. In addition, there is a powerful video titled, “Grain Bin Safety: protecting yourself and your family,” access link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDwJCdjlZYE&feature=youtu.be.

OSHA: "It only takes two or three seconds to become helpless in flowing grain."
