Updated Position Descriptions for Local Unit Directors
Position descriptions for local unit directors have been updated and posted to the Employee Resources and Board Leadership websites. One description is for counties where there are three or fewer agents and the county director has administrative responsibilities, but no agent supervision responsibilities. In these counties, the title is: Extension Agent, (program area) and County Extension Director.
In counties with four or more agents and in all Extension districts, the local unit director has the title of County Extension Director or District Extension Director. The local unit board and the regional director delegate to the director the administrative responsibilities for agent coaching, supervision and evaluation, as well as the other local unit administrative responsibilities relating to programs, personnel and budgets.
The previous version of the local unit director position description contained the responsibilities for each of the director positions. But the two updated versions are specific for each type of position, so there is no confusion about the responsibilities of each type of director position.
