Choose Foods that Decrease Your Risk of Cancer, MF3252. Sandy Procter. The 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines urge all Americans to follow a healthy eating pattern that includes a variety of vegetables of all subgroups. This recommendation reflects research suggesting diets rich in vegetables, fruits, and whole grains may offer some protection against cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.
