Shout Out: Jana McKinney and the Adult Development and Aging Program Focus Team
This week’s Shout Out comes from Dr. Erin Yelland and goes out to Jana McKinney and the rest of our Adult Development and Aging Program Focus Team:
“Have you ever had something come up last minute that you needed some help to handle? I’m sure all of us have – and I can bet that many of you have called upon an Extension colleague during those times. That’s one of the perks of being in the K-State Research and Extension family, after all…we can always count on each other!
I recently sent out a plea for help to the Adult Development and Aging PFT members – and goodness, did they come through! I am working alongside colleagues from nearly every College at University to submit a proposal to the National Science Foundation, and we needed some help putting together a last-minute focus group to help boost the quality of our proposal. I told the team not to worry, because our Extension network always comes through. After sending out my plea, I had numerous offers to host a focus group with guaranteed participation…in less than 12 hours. By the 24 hour mark, the focus group was planned and phone calls were being made to participants. Exactly one week later, a successful focus group was held in McPherson County! Myself and two other researchers (from the Colleges of Arts & Sciences and Engineering) traveled to McPherson, and several others joined us via Zoom. We had excellent participation and got exactly what we needed to better inform our proposal. My fellow researchers, many of whom had no idea what K-State Research and Extension was or what we do, were impressed and thankful.
And literally none of that would have been possible without the willingness of our Extension professionals to lend a hand. So, thank you. Thank you to the PFT for your willingness to help, and to Jana McKinney for making it happen.”
It is nice to know we have colleagues who are always willing to lend a hand. Thanks to Jana and all of the Adult Development and Aging Program Focus Team for their willingness to step in quickly to help with a very important project.
If you know of a colleague or colleagues that deserve a Shout Out, simply email me their name(s) and a description of why they are so deserving to ghadley@ksu.edu. We will make sure that your Shout Out nominee(s) are featured in an upcoming Tuesday Letter.
