Statewide Community Forestry Trainings
Properly caring for trees in our urban environment has become an increasingly difficult task for city foresters, city staff, tree boards and other green industry professionals.
Please join Kansas Forest Service Community Foresters across the state in October and November for day-long trainings designed to address the tree issues faced by Kansas communities.
Dates and locations include:
Tuesday, October 29 - Dodge City
Tuesday, November 5 - Emporia
Tuesday, November 5 - Hays
Thursday, November 7 - Marysville
Thursday, November 14 - Olathe
Tuesday, November 19 - Park City
Thursday, November 21 - Parsons Arboretum
Registration is currently open.
Topics will include the environmental impacts of drought, windstorm events and other environmental factors and the potential problems that may negatively affect community trees. Attendees will learn about tree defects and how defects can make a tree hazardous so that it is a candidate for removal. Following the indoor discussion of tree assessment, removal, proper pruning and storm damage pruning, we will have an outdoor pruning demonstration.
