Tips and Tricks for Teaching STEM: 4-H Program Rally Pre-Session

Submitted by Shannon Rogge

Are you looking to add to your STEM toolbox? Join us for a hands-on session that will allow Extension educators to explore a STEM lesson and the characteristics that can be successfully applied to a variety of audiences and programs.

The class will be offered as a pre-session workshop from 10 a.m. to noon, before the start of the 4-H Program Rally on Tuesday, January 28. Registration is $15 and will include lunch and program supplies. To register, visit https://tinyurl.com/v2vyo8l by January 21.

This workshop will provide a fun, hands-on lesson that will teach educators how to create experiential learning environments that foster curiosity and critical thinking for students. While working through a STEM challenge, educators will gain tips and tricks about: 1) setting the context for challenge-based learning, 2) asking purposeful questions, and 3) reviewing lesson outcomes.

Workshop presenters will include 4-H Youth Development Agents: John Jobe- Riley County KSRE; Ami Lin- Johnson County KSRE; Kaitlyn Peine- Douglas County KSRE; and Michelle Simmons- Sedgwick County KSRE.
