Focus on Core Competencies: Managing Difficult Conversations

The second part in the Focus on Core Competencies series will be Managing Difficult Conversations, to be held via Zoom on May 29 from 1 - 3 p.m.

Engaging in Difficult Conversations can be daunting. This interactive presentation is designed to increase your confidence and communications skills when confronted with a difficult conversation. This session will include information, discussions, role plays, and other interactive activities.

Session Objectives:

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify their own discomfort with confrontation or conflict
  • Identify derailing conversations and how to keep the conversation on track
  • Identify three difficult conversations including: "What Happened" Conversations, "Feelings" Conversations, and "Identity" Conversations
  • Role-play how to effectively apply the communication skills covered - Role-play how to process reactions/issues that arise
