Shout Out: KSRE Annual Conference Planning Committee

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

This week’s Shout Out comes from our 2020 Annual Conference Planning Committee Chair Jason Ellis and is sent to the 2020 Annual Conference Planning Committee members:

“I would like to send a shout-out to the 2020 KSRE Annual Conference Planning Committee. This team had the vision that set the foundation for us to go virtual as well as collaborate with North Dakota and South Dakota. The committee’s willingness to innovate and think big resulted in a tremendous experience for all KSRE professionals at all levels of the system.

KSRE planning committee members included:
- Jennifer Wilson
- Meg Drake
- Susan Metzger
- Brian Rees
- Tristin Cope
- Jill Martinson
- Cindy Evans
- Candis Meerpohl
- Brian McCornack
- Debbie Hagenmaier
- Laurie Chandler
- Rick Peterson
- Aliesa Woods

I would also like to send a Shout Out within a Shout Out to recognize the additional committee contributions of Jennifer Wilson, Laurie Chandler, Brian McCornack, Nathan Leatherman and Mary Hellmer. Jennifer, Laurie and Brian served on the multi-state planning committee. This responsibility added extra meetings and responsibilities to an already busy late summer and fall and was integral to the overall planning success.

Nathan Leatherman, video production specialist in the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education, graciously accepted the challenge of bringing together images and footage from all three states into one cohesive, engaging kick-off video with very little notice. His leadership and vision for how to best represent the three systems in a unified piece, combined with his talent in video production, gave us the great product we saw on Tuesday afternoon.

Mary Hellmer was the one behind the curtain coordinating awards, writing scripts, and making sure PowerPoint presentations were ready to go and more. In addition to all these duties, Mary also stepped up this year to help teach the conference general session on accessibility and an accessibility breakout session. Mary served as a driving force to make sure our Kansas group was ready to present in that accessibility session. All of her work behind the scenes and in front of the camera is much appreciated!!”

2020 Annual Conference Planning Committee, thanks for all you do for the people we serve, our colleagues, and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve praise for doing something great, why not give them a Shout Out? Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ghadley@ksu.edu.
