Shout Out: Kansas Forest Service Tree Identification Series

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

This week’s Shout out comes to us from our State Forester, Jason Hartman, and it goes out to our Kansas Forest Service colleagues Kim Bomberger and Cassie Wandersee. Jason wrote:

“Designing virtual extension programs and activities can be challenging, but it can offer great rewards, too. Plus, planning and presenting in a virtual setting has become old hat for our professionals.

This year we offered a virtual Tree Identification meeting series. Kim Bomberger and Cassie Wandersee led our efforts in planning, marketing, and implementing the program. Their great work paid off as over 400 people attended this educational series.

I would also like to give a Shout Out within a Shout Out within a Shout Out to those 400-plus participants. WE can only be as successful with virtual delivery if the participants are willing to learn using virtual technology. So, here’s to those 400 attendees who stepped outside their comfort zone to take the chance on learning in the 'new normal' virtual environment!”

Kim and Cassie: thanks for all you do for the people we serve, your colleagues, the Kansas Forrest Service, and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who are deserving of a Shout Out for their excellent extension work, please send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ghadley@ksu.edu.
