Erin Yelland Named Associate Editor of the Journal of Extension

Erin Yelland, assistant professor and Extension specialist, has been named an associate editor of the Journal of Extension. The Journal of Extension (JOE) is a rigorous, peer-reviewed journal that brings the scholarship of university outreach and engagement to educators and practitioners around the world. JOE creates opportunities for professionals and students to publish intellectual, creative work; nurtures emerging scholars and new authors for success; encourages professional development; and advances the theory and practice of Extension.

She will serve a three-year term and will be responsible for facilitating the publication process, contributed to ensuring the journal’s academic rigor and editorial quality within the health and human development area.

Yelland is an assistant professor and Extension specialist in adult development and aging in the Department of Applied Human Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences. She holds a bachelor's degree in youth, adult and family services from Purdue University and a doctorate in family science from the University of Kentucky. She holds a graduate certificate in gerontology and is a Certified Family Life Educator.

Yelland’s work is centered on health and well-being across the lifespan to promote optimal aging. Specifically, she has expertise in the social determinants of health; program development, implementation and evaluation; policy, systems, and environmental change; brain health; and sexual health in older adulthood.
