Faculty Receive APLU Teaching Awards

Submitted by Susan Schiff

Two College of Agriculture faculty were honored with Innovative Teaching Awards by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. These awards are intended to support innovation in the post-secondary teaching of agriculture and related fields.

Award winners are Tiffany Rogers-Randolph, assistant professor of  Communications and Agricultural Education; and Colby Moorberg, assistant professor of Agronomy.

These APLU awards were designed to encourage new faculty to expand their scholarship of teaching and learning by creating projects with more senior faculty. The awards received by Rogers-Randolph and Moorberg are within the inter-institutional category, which requires the research teams to represent multiple universities.

Rogers-Randolph is partnering with a research colleague from New Mexico State University to find more effective teaching strategies to increase the learning and engagement of traditional students who have been required to shift to online learning in recent months.

Working with faculty from Auburn University, Austin Peay State University, California State University – Chico, Dickinson State University, and Fort Hays State University, Moorberg is exploring options to reduce the cost of textbooks for students by replacing conventional textbooks with free extension publications, government reports, and publications.

The Innovative Teaching Awards are granted twice a year by APLU.
