Welcome to Our New Regional Specialists

Submitted by Gregg Hadley and Bob Weaber

We are pleased to announce that we have three new regional specialists.

Chandra Plate will be joining us as the regional 4-H and youth development specialist for northwest Kansas effective August 1. Chandra comes to us from the University of Nebraska extension, where she served as an extension educator in 4-H Youth Development in Brown, Keya Paha, Rock, Holt and Boyd Counties.

She has served as a 4-H Youth Development agent in our system, too. She has a passion for the equine and shooting sports project areas. Welcome back to K-State Research and Extension, Chandra!

Joining Chandra will be Ashley Svaty. Ashley will be our new northwest regional family and consumer sciences specialist. Of course, we know Ashley from her serving as a family and consumer science agent with the Post Rock District, where she became known for her healthy living extension programming efforts.

Ashley will begin her service as a specialist starting August 22, following her maternity leave. Ashley, congratulations on that, too!

It is time to move from northwest Kansas to southeast Kansas. Christina Holmes has accepted our southeast regional family and consumer science specialist position. Christina comes to us from Cherokee County, where she has been serving as the family and consumer sciences agent, emphasizing nutrition, dietetics, healthy living and community vitality.

Christina will begin serving in her new capacity effective July 10.

Let’s wish Chandra, Ashley, and Christina our congratulations and thanks for becoming our newest regional specialists!
