Statewide Market Research Project

Submitted by Jerry Grasso

K-State Research and Extension, in partnership with the New Boston Creative Group in Manhattan, is in process of developing a statewide market research project that will baseline four questions:

• For users and non-users, what are the critical issues Extension needs to address?
• For users and non-users, how do they want to receive the information addressing the critical issues?

On the surface, sure, these four questions are simple enough. But the analysis of the results, well, the information should tell us more than just a thing or two.

Though the project is statewide, it will be shared in six regions (North, South, East, West, Greater Kansas City and Greater Wichita) and we’ll be able to see variances in subject matter interest, education delivery preferences, age differences, demographic breakdowns, among others. Recruitment to take part will begin in January, and we hope to the have the analysis and results in the spring of 2023.

We’ll be soliciting non-users to participate in the project through social media ads, primarily on Facebook. For our users, we’ll need help when the time comes to collect email addresses from units and districts from around the state. New Boston will be sending out the requests on behalf of KSRE. The process will be transparent that this is a project sponsored by Extension. Between users and non-users, we hope to have 2,000+ respondents by the time the survey closes.

Meg and I are excited to be leading this project, and with your help, we believe we’ll get a better understanding of our users today, and how we might attract new users to KSRE moving forward. We hope you’ll participate when the time comes in sharing names and email addresses. What we will learn will help us all move the mission forward.
