Shout Out: Riley County Income Tax Assistance Program Volunteers
This Shout Out comes from Gary Fike, Riley County Extension Director, and is sent for their Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program volunteers. Gary writes:
"I would like to nominate the individuals who serve as volunteers for our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Even though they don’t get the weekly electronic newsletter (other than Jennifer Wilson), I will print it off and pass it out at our appreciation lunch at the end of tax season, so they can get some recognition. So here goes:
Sue Simmons, Roger Ruggels, Barb Poresky, Shauntia Rippe, Steve Dritz, Jeff Stevenson, Barta Stevenson, Don Boggs, Lindi Hight, Sara Desmet, Dinh This Xuan Phan, Xuan Duy Thi Phan (Danica), Chris Urban, and Jennifer Wilson. Although the season is not quite over, this group, including Gary Fike, Riley County Extension Director, has prepared and successfully filed 798 tax returns for moderate to low income clients at no charge. These individuals saved clients approximately $160,000 in tax return preparation fees and fetched $1.06 MILLION in tax refunds and credits."
